My very first blog!!!

Wow! I can't believe it! Look at me.......I'm blogging!!
I love reading people's blogs.....especially the home improvement ones.

I decided to start this blog to chronicle my first big project in this house: A kitchen facelift.

We've lived in this house for 11 years and we've done a few things - we finished off the attic into a bedroom, refinished the oak floors and, of course, painted rooms. Even though this isn't a big expensive makeover, I think it will be a big enough change that I want to document it.

I'm pretty sure we were fated to find this house: a member of my husband's extended family built this house right behind his own house and rented it to his daughter and son-in-law (I know this is confusing, but that son-in-law is my husband's second cousin!). We didn't find this little tidbit out until after we purchased the home! Crazy, huh?

Here are a couple pictures of my little 80's kitchen:

Here's what I'm doing:

Painting the cabinets
New cabinet hardware
New light fixture
Under cabinet lighting
Tiling backsplash
Wallpaper (or paint!)
New countertops
New sink and faucet
New window coverings
New flooring
New french doors

So far I've moved everything out and scrubbed and sanded (and scrubbed again!) all the doors and cabinets. I will take a picture of the empty room and post it tomorrow.

Welcome to Blogland! I hope you enjoy it here.

I came to your blog via a link at One Woman's Cottage life. My blog is basicly about daily life. At times it is about decorating, but that's not my main focus. It's just my random thoughts for anyone who would like to read them. I'm not sure they are all that interesting though...lol!

That is a GREAT story about your house. You are right that must be fate!

I look forward to following your kitchen progress. The paper in your kitchen is very similar to what will be leaving our bathroom VERY soon.

Again welcome to the Blogland and feel free to visit my blog (penny-penn.blogspot.com) if you like!
