Mom's Place

I wasn't going to blog about this for two reasons:

1.  I'm supposed to be finishing the kitchen.
2.  You'll tell me what a loser I am for starting another new project because I should be working on my kitchen.

But here it goes.....my mom bought a condo and it's stuck in the 80's.

I can't have her living in a place that's stuck in the 80's.

I'm not sure why this is.  It's most likely because I'm a control freak and want to bully her into decorating her home it how I want it to look.

Because it's all about me, I guess.

So I'm going to show you some "before" shots.

Now, these "before" shots aren't really her condo.  I didn't take photos before I started because remember when I had my computer problems? All of the software belonging to my camera was knocked out of my computer so now we need to find the software that came with the camera and reload it.

And only Zuddy knows where it is.

Which means it's lost forever in the basement or in his garage.  And we will need to get a new camera with new software.

Anyhoo.....

Here are some photos of another condo for sale in my Mom's building.  It's very similar to hers.  Almost identical.

The living room....it's 15x21:

Another shot of the living room:

See those doors leading to the spare bedroom/office?  Aren't they attractive?

The correct answer would be, "No.  They are not attractive."

The dining room...it's 10x11:

My Mom's dining room doesn't have that mirrored wall.

But it DOES have a hideous ca.1981 genuine imitation crystal (i.e.plastic) chandelier.  Don't worry.  I'll somehow get a photo of it for you.

The kitchen....it's 9x11:

Her kitchen is pretty much the same as this one MINUS the tile and PLUS the 1992 wallpaper with ivy all over it.

So anyway....there it is.

Wanna come along with me as I help my Mom update this place before she moves in?

Ha! Jason and I totally had a mirrored wall in our townhouse when we first got married. I hated it. I always wondered if anyone else out there had a mirrored wall...

It looks like they just had a funeral in the living room. The alter, the lovely floral arrangement. What a clever dining ensemble. You'd never know it was a card table. folding chairs and cheap, I mean, thrifty covers from Wal-Mart. Love the mirror--you could have a little tiny aerobics class. Let's get physical.....

Can't wait to see the Martha Magic!

What kind of camera do you have? We've got software sitting around... maybe we've got the cd-rom you need!

Hopefully seeing how amazing the makeover on her place turns out will inspire you to finish your kitchen makeover, right? I'm so much better at starting new projects than finishing old ones, too.

Have you tried looking online for the software for your camera? You could start with the manufacturer's site. Otherwise you could try calling a camera shop (I love National camera--they've always treated me very well) to see if they have extra software or know where to get it.

I will be there Saturday. I will do my best to try to remember my camera. Gotta get a photo of the chandelier.
I am excited to see how it all comes together!

Hi Everyone!

MJ: I truly think the flowers were a funeral arrangement. Because - well? How can I put this delicately? I don't think people "move out" when they "leave" this condominium complex...you know what I'm sayin'? Oh, I think you do!

Kim - I have no idea what to do with those arches. My Mom wants to put big crystal vases in them with some sort of arrangement. Got any ideas?

Thirkell and Michelle - I had to "mention" (nag) zuddy about the camera software again and he told me he could download it from the world-wide web. I was kinda hoping for the new camera, but - whatever.

But, girls? My sissy Dawn and I painted woodwork in the LR and DR? And it looks 100 times better already!

Run, Martha, run to your moms condo..don't walk. She needs you..haha.

I remember when those mirrors were cool and I also remembering how much I wanted them. Soooo glad I couldn't afford them at the time.

And, oh yea, A funeral definitely happened. Maybe it was the mirrors?

It's always much more fun to help someone else out with their project and you have a nice blank slate to work with. Will your mom let you have decorating control? I can't wait to see the progress!

I was at Mama Martha's new place last week and saw first hand the decorating ideas...truly blogworthy. Martha, I can come take pictures for you. So much more fun to decorate someone else's space and spend their money!

Oooooo - I love new spaces. I can smell the change coming.

Or maybe that was the funeral smell just lingering...
