Hey - so, I'm just curious.
I'm looking at Holiday cards to send. I usually choose something that says "peace" or "happy holidays" or something like that because I have a few friends who don't celebrate Christmas. I was even thinking about just doing a Happy New Year card....that way I'm not targeting a religion at all, but still sending a greeting and a photo of Noodle, because I love photos of kids and families for a greeting card. I save them ALL and look at them every year to see how everyone changes.
Aaaanyway, I saw a post about this very subject on a blog. And I looked at the comments and saw that some people are very offended by getting cards that don't say "Merry Christmas" on them. If you are Christian, does that bug you, too? If you're not Christian, are you offended by a "Merry Christmas" card?
Just curious how you all feel about this.
If you're an American Thanksgiving celebrator, did you have a good one? We did! My brother is a fantastic cook and we had a yummy dinner, I went to a hockey game with my nephew, we went for a nice hike and then to the new Muppet Movie (sorry, I didn't think it was that great, but Noodle LOVED it.)

Well, I'm a Christian and I am totally NOT offended if people send cards that don't say Merry Christmas. The birth of Christ is something I try to celebrate all year round...and hopefully not just minimize to a month-long season. Maybe it's for that reason that I think that there are many worthwhile things about Christmas - even the things that don't have Christianese plastered across them. That said, I always send "Christmas" cards because that's what I celebrate. I'm not ashamed to say that I don't think I have ever thought not to send them for fear of offending anyone.

I'm not at all offended by cards that don't say "Merry Christmas."
I know it's hard to please everyone, but I would hope that people would understand the differences in beliefs and be ok with it.

Gina, I'm with you. I have a friend who is not Christian and is really sick of the commercialization of Christmas. He feels like it's shoved down his throat every year.....which I can understand!! I celebrate Christmas and feel like it's shoved down my throat, too :)
I think "Happy Holidays", "Peace", and "Happy New Year" are all very nice things to be wished, and people would love to receive a picture of Noodle regardless of what it says. I have some older relatives that I could see getting offended by a card that says something secular like "peace" but I think they would probably find something else to pick at if it wasn't that.

I kind of hate Seasons Greetings because it sounds lame, but I'm not *offended. I'm tickled to get ANY cards! Except I hate the one from Dan the Insurance Agent because it was obviously bought in bulk in 1971 and comes in November.
I'm with other other poster that said that she is happy to get any (non-sales type) cards! I wish that people would be thankful that they have people in their lives that think enough of them to send them cards & not complain about what they look like!
Also, I see cards as a reflection of the sender & I'm happy to have friends & family of all kinds of beliefs and lifestyles and thus, their cards will show that.
I agree with everyone but mostly Kim. I see sending cards as my gifts to friends near and far, I choose a message that I want to share with them, whatever it may be, but it is my choosing, because I pick out cards that I like that I would like them to have. Mine don't usually have a picture of the Noodle, but a picture of her on a card would be a wonderful gift that anyone should be thrilled beyond belief to get.
PS - my sister started doing this a couple of years ago, but she scans her picture cards that she gets and makes a photo book of them every year, that way the kids can sit and look through them. Granted, I think 98% of the cards she gets are photo cards. This is the first year I have been able to talk Scott into a photo card, and it will be of Stella, of course :)
I'm a Happy New Year type of person. Afterall, I can't be sure who celebrates what, but I believe that everyone wishes for a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year.
