We're Going to the Depot Today, People!!

I want Zuddy to get the stuff for the undercabinet lighting today - at least the wiring. He's balking at the price of the xenon lighting, but I cannot compromise. I've heard halogen gets really hot and I'm not a fan of the color flourescent lighting gives off. Anyway, I took a kitchen design class from our community education system and xenon is what the local kitchen designer recommended.

Here are the cabinet colors I'm thinking about going with. Anybody who is reading this:
Do you think the charcoal gray for the bottom cabinets is a mistake?
Is it too dark?
The countertop sample I've been eyeing is in the middle. It's the HD laminate from Wilsonart. Does it look okay? (While I would love soapstone or something, my cabinets are JUNK. They'd probably crumble. This facelift is meant to last 5 to 10 years. Then I'd like to bump out the kitchen about 4-5 feet.)

Any feedback would be appreciated.

I want to give a shout out to Kim, Denise, Janelle, kjquilts and Mary.....hey! Thanks for visiting! I've been visiting each of your blogs and I'm loving them all!!! As a matter of fact, I'm addicted. I can't get enough. And the more home blogs I look at, the more hooked I am. It's like heroin. And you're all pushers.

Janelle, thanks so much for the direction on linking. I will follow this in my postings next week. Hey! And I see the sideways 8!! I see it! I see it!! Now, why don't you get a job explaining these things? See how simple you've made it?

The Noodle still isn't feeling so hot. Poor Pookaroo!!! Here's a picture of her in healthier times trimming the Christmas tree. Yes, it's fake. My Mom found it for me. It's really slim and it fits perfectly in our tiny 13x12 foot living room. If I had to go and - gasp! Cut one down or buy one every year, there would be no tree in my house. Because.....I'm really lazy.

Speaking of my Mom....she made a slipcover for my rocking chair and I need to pick it up today. You gotta love that woman. She made the roman shades, too. Here's another picture of the Noodle and the chair is right behind her. The green blanket is covering up a tear on the arm of the chair. I will post a picture of it - with it's new outfit - tomorrow.

I'm glad that I found your blog. We painted our cabinets last year and painted them black. I too was worried if it would be to dark but I am so happy with the way they turned out. I say go for the it! Thanks for the tip on the lights. We just looked at the xenon lights on Friday. We ended up buying the halogen but now I thinking we should take them back and go with the xenon. Good luck with the cabinets :)
