The Year of The Kitchen

The kitchen....ooohhhh, the kitchen.

I was starting to hate it..

I was thinking:

"Why did I paint the bottom cabinets gray?"  (answer: because I like gray it's my favorite color)

"Should I re-paint? Just do the bottoms white like the tops?"  (ummm...NO!  The whole reason I chose that countertop is because of the gray.)

"Do I really want those reclaimed wood floors?"  (Not really...but they are free. So tough noogies.)

But then?

I went to decorpad and saw this:

Ummmm....hello?  It kinda looks like what I want this place to look like:

And if I'd just get going, it would be exactly what I want!  I found a photo of a kitchen with the dark grout I think I want:

And maybe I don't want big diamonds on the floor?

Maybe I want darker wood....like Anne Turner Carroll's kitchen?

Or maybe like this kitchen with a similar color scheme to mine?

I'll take that fridge, too, thankyouverymuch.

And look at this kitchen:

And this one!

I like 'em all and they all have gray cabinets.

So, now I'm back to feelin' it, sisters.

And I need to take it one step at a time.

My first step?  To scrape the walls.

I'm going to do it on Sunday.  I promise.

Don't doubt the gray Martz. It's good. I just painted my living room Bedford Gray and I LOVE it. My next house (that we hopefully build) is going to have tons of Bedford Gray. And I think the dark wood is good too. And the white on top. Especially in a smaller kitchen, it looks cheery. And love, love, love the dark grouted tiles.

I'm loving the subway tile with dark grout. It will look amazing with your grey cabinets.

How do you guys know how to pick out stuff? I am so not gifted that way. I love the grey (is that Canadian spelling?) cabinets on the bottom and white on top! Good luck Martha, you can do it!

I think your kitchen is off to a great start. The subway tile will look awesome. A wood floor would warm up the space and like you said, it's free! I just made the final decision in our kitchen this week and I'm so glad to be done with the decisions! I just had to pick out the backsplash but it was more difficult than I thought it would be. We're going with cream colored subway, and cream grout. I like the gray grout look too. Good luck with yours!
