Gallery Wall

So, now that I have the power to download my photos from our cruddy little point and shoot camera, I realize there have been a few things I haven't blogged about.

Probably because..... who cares, right?

Right.

Well, anyway.  Here are the 'befores' of the gallery wall I did behind the sofa.  I started out with the two black and white prints with the navy matting (they're the ones hanging on the wall).  I got them from my friend Kirsten.  I still really like them, but that wall needed a little something more dramatic.

So I went around the house and gathered all of the art I had. Almost all of it is hand-me-down......much of it from Kirsten.

Anyway, I stacked it against the sofa to get an overall feeling of how it would look:

Did you know most of what I own is a hand-me-down?  It's true.  Sad, but true.

Anyway, I selected the pieces I was going to use and then I layed them on the floor to mock up an arrangement:

Then I traced the pictures on some art paper that I borrowed from the Noodle and taped everything on  the wall.

Then?
I stacked up the pictures all over the house and left them there for months and months until I got tired of moving them around when I had to clean.

Then?
I washed my slipcover.  And decided the window treatments needed to be raised:

Then?
I waited another month or two before I asked Zuddy to help me hang everything.

And then?
I never took a photo.

And I will do it tomorrow after I'm finished washing windows :)

Can't wait to see it! And I did notice the new slipcover... you never blogged about that either. ;-) Love it.

That how I get things done, too! I'm glad I'm not the only one. Great idea on raising the Roman shades.

ok, that cracked me up. You are so much like me when it comes to that kind of stuff. I CAN'T BELIEVE you have a white slip cover and a child in the same house. Can you tell I"m a mom, I noticed the color of your slip cover before anything else. Can't wait to see it when it's done..and hey, hand me downs are good things...me luvs them.

I started laughing about halfway through, because it all sounds WAY too familiar. (Esp. the part where you leave them for months and months and have to vacuum around them.)

Can't wait to see the final result!

Man, I love you girls! You totally get me :)

Yeah, my Mommy made the slipcover for me and I really love it. I think I wash it about every 6 weeks or so. I highly recommend a slipcover, ladies! Especially if you have kiddos and a filthy partner. They wash up very nicely!

Leaving the pictures stacked against the walls for a long time is necessary for the curing process. Some people call the curing process procrastination and that's pure nonsense. I've been in my house for two years and still have my pictures stacked in the hall. I don't even clean around them all that well. Mine still haven't cured well enough to be hung on the wall.

The paper cut outs were really growing on me! My house is also decorated with Kirsten's Cast Offs. She throws out much better stuff than I've ever had. I can't believe what a difference the raised window treatments made. You're so smart!

All in good time, right? Time gives a girl a chance to change her mind, right?

Glad to "hear" from you.

You're funny. I'm impressed by the paper templates on the wall, I never get that far.

Oh, and I have an old Williamsburg print that I got at a yard sale for three bucks about fifteen years ago leaning against the wall in my dining room. I like the idea of it and have had it hanging for years, but now I'm kind of into this Pottery Barn hang-white-and-cream-plates thing and it doesn't fit. But I only have one white plate so I'm afraid I'll have to live with a blank wall forever if I do something really drastic like putting the print in a closet. Because then it will have to stay there forever, right?
